So, it’s been close to 2 months since I – on somewhat of a whim – decided to get our Izzy. I have to say, it’s been quite an adjustment for everyone. It didn’t take very long to be sure of her housebreaking. She hasn’t had an accident in about 2 weeks. I believe that was actually my fault as I had waited longer than normal to take her outside. Before that, it was even longer. Pretty good record for a puppy who’s lived outside her entire life before I got her.

She had her final shots and is now good for the next year. I have her spay scheduled for early November and have taken off for that to make sure the healing process goes smoothly. She is very hyperactive, so I want to make sure she doesn’t tear any stitches. She really can’t be alone for the first few days.
Brushing her has been a breeze since her last groom appointment – I swear she cut off at least 3 inches! Yes, I already mentioned that in my last pupper post. Figured it needed repeating because holy hair!

Izzy has come a little way already. I have taught her to ‘sit,’ ‘shake,’ and she is currently working on ‘lie down.’ I am also working on her barking. My poor hubby! He is the only one in our home that she is constantly barking at. Now, she still barks at unknown noises and people she doesn’t know, but I’m more concerned with getting her to stop barking at hubby. I mean, yes, it’s mostly on him since he refuses to spend proper time with her because he didn’t even want a dog to begin with. BUT! I will mention that these last few days he has, little by little, put in a bit of effort to help her get to know him. She’s slowly getting there but I feel like it’s going to take a lot of time. The other noises, however, not so much. Training her on that part will be a bit harder to do.

Crate training didn’t take much effort. She pretty much caught on right away. Very similar to housebreaking. We only put her in the crate when I’m at work and during some nights. She may whine a little here and there but mostly lies down and sleeps.
All in all, she’s a very good pupper. Other than the barking, her only problem is chewing – normal for teething pups. My poor daughter’s toys are paying dearly.
I can’t wait to see her grow and learn more. Especially alongside my kiddos. I’m quite excited!
For now, I say, happy 6-month birthday, Izzy girl! <3
