Which of you mamas remembers the Sears Christmas Catalog? I know I can’t be the only one who remembers getting that ginormous book and spending hours upon hours sifting through it with my siblings. Just excitedly pointing out all the fun things and circling the many toys we wanted for Christmas. Those were some pretty hefty lists!
I remember always being so excited every year when it’d come in the mail. I was quite disappointed when we stopped getting them. I’ve actually wondered lately if they’d ever bring them back. Not to mention, why they even stopped sending them out in the first place. I’ve also wondered if my kids would have similar reactions to that wonderous book of our childhood.
Recently, I was able to find out. It’s not something that I even planned because I don’t even know how I’d go about planning something like that. I’m not a very creative mom outside of my own thoughts. But when I got home one day and checked my mail, I found something very interesting in my box. At the time I wasn’t even sure what it was. It looked like a coloring book for kids. Once I got inside, I looked through it and my heart skipped, and I had the biggest smile on my face. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing! Another Christmas wish book!! Of course, it wasn’t like the Sears Wish Book that we all grew up with. That one was so much bigger. But I suppose it’s the next generation’s version. Quite a small catalog with over 600 toys/gifts.

So, when I brought this book inside, hubby claimed it first. He was pretty excited, too. He decided he’d be the first to check it out. Then he finally let the kids check it out.
They went berserk!!
Seriously, they were just as ecstatic, if not more so, as we were growing up. And I have to say, when their eyes lit up while looking through that book, my heart swelled. I was happy just seeing that much excitement!
I know. I shouldn’t push the toy thing on the kids. But it’s not about that. It’s about the nostalgia of it. It’s about wanting to see them as excited as we were. Honestly, that’s one of the best parts of Momming. Seeing your kids excited about something; anything! It just makes me so happy to see that twinkle in their eyes.
Now this catalog doesn’t show any prices for any of their products, but I truly love that it shows products sold by small businesses. There are little symbols near the descriptions that mean different things. I also love the page near the front where you can start your gifts list.

I have to say, this catalog is super nice. It absolutely brings me way back. Kind of makes me feel like a kid again just looking through it. Is that weird?
I didn’t have to order this catalog. It came in the mail on “auto ship” or something. So, if any of you hadn’t received this book, you can always go online to do your Christmas shopping on the virtual catalog.
