“A woman who cuts her hair is about to change her life.” – Coco Chanel
Okay, ladies! Let me have it!
Tell me what you’re thinking because I’m thinking exactly the same thing: “Why the *bleep* would you choose to cut your child’s bangs yourself?!?”
Mostly because I prefer to cut their hair myself. I do Oliver’s and my hubby’s all the time. I trim Abigail’s once in a while. This was very different, though. I thought about this for a week before actually deciding to do this. Also, I made sure I was at my sister’s place so she could see how good it was going to look.
Or so I thought!
This was not really a bad IDEA so much as it was a bad TIME. My daughter is obviously not old enough to know not to move so much when mama has scissors in her hand. I thought maybe she would have been by now, but I was wrong.
I should have waited.
I debated this for a week, right? I just kept thinking of how adorable she would be with bangs. She always complains about her hair in her face, and I try to keep it put up, but she likes to take it out after a few hours. This way she’d be fine. And my sister told me, “Just remember that it’s hair. It will grow back.” That was a big factor for me. Her hair grows so slowly, and I was worried it would look bad (and with good reason, apparently!) and that it would take too long to grow back. Now, those doubts have become a reality.

I truly hate what I did to her hair. I will use this as a learning experience. For now, I will do everything in my power to make it look as cute as possible until it grows back. Hats, headbands, clips. This mama WILL be prepared!

I know some other factors I need to take into account the next time I decide to try cutting her bangs. The first of which being to start much lower than planned. I only started a tad bit lower. With her moving too much, I ended up slanting upward and now it looks terrible. Learning experience!!
So, to conclude this very sad post, I will be waiting a long time before trying to give her bangs again. It will most likely take a very long time just for it to grow back, anyway. Her hair just grows so slowly.
Okay! Now, I need to hear the stories of anyone who has had a bad haircut or has given a bad haircut! Let me hear these stories! 🙂
